Conference on the People-Centered Smart Cities

As part of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Grand Est Region and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs will organize a virtual conference on “People-centered Smart Cities” on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 9:30 am to 5 pm.

Faced with the challenges of digital technology, French actors are keen to be part of an international partnership program that aims to respond to local and global challenges of digital technology, and to enhance the opportunities for sustainable and inclusive cities.

Since its launch by UN-Habitat, the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Grand Est Region, with the support of the Fnau (National Federation of Urban Planning Agencies) and their partners, have been preparing the French contribution to the UN-Habitat program on “Inclusive Smart Cities”, which includes this conference. This contribution is also part of the European Union’s commitment to a digital transformation of Europe by 2030.

The conference in Strasbourg will be an opportunity to bring together French, European and international high-level actors to debate during round tables on the issues of new practices, inclusion, sobriety and governance.
