Events planned in the framework of the French Presidency of the European Union

 

The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs has published a press release announcing a series of events likely to be of interest to French local and regional authorities in the context of the French Presidency of the European Union (PFUE).

These events, labelled PFUE, cover three main themes:

 

>Gender equality:

  • “Promoting equality between women and men: towards an international standard”, on 25 February from 2 to 4 pm online: by AFNOR, conference on an international ISO standard on gender equality within organisations, proposing a set of methodological tools and good practices to promote gender equality.
  • “For a feminist Europe: What are the challenges at the time of the EUFP? 2 March in Paris: by the High Council for Equality, two round tables on the EU’s internal policies for gender equality (DSSR, fight against violence, post COVID-19 relaunch, gender-sensitive budget) and on the external aspect in terms of development, solidarity with feminist movements and the follow-up of the Generation Equality Forum.
  • France-Portugal season “Equality Forum: solutions for gender equality in Europe”, from 8 to 10 March, in Angers and online: exchanges of experiences, debates and proposals for concrete solutions in the cultural, scientific and educational fields between Portuguese, French and European speakers, political figures and members of civil society.

 

>Sport:

  • “Sport and SDGs in childhood: the societal challenges of an adapted sport practice”: sharing of good practices on the role of physical activity in the development of children on their health, their integrity and education for sustainable development: to be reviewed here

 

>Sustainable development and climate:

  • “One Ocean Summit” from 9 to 11 February, in Brest and online: the ocean is threatened by numerous pressures: climate change, pollution, overexploitation of marine resources, etc. How can we mobilise and take concrete action to reduce them in the long term?
  • “Climate Chance Summit”, on 7 and 8 March, in Nantes: “Green Pact for Europe: local authorities, businesses and citizens at the heart of the European transition”, to bring out and make public the proposals of stakeholders (including local authorities) on climate action in the territories.
  • “9th European Summit of Cities and Regions”, on 3 and 4 March, in Marseille and online: numerous thematic workshops, in particular on cross-border cooperation.
